Configuring a Database

You can configure various aspects of how your database is exposed through Gatsby Database Explorer with the Gatsby Design Assistant.  This includes:

In many cases Gatsby Database Explorer analyzes the database structure, such as relationships and indexes, to provide a very user-friendly presentation of the database.  After you have mounted the database, getting the results you want is an iterative process.  First, view your database in Gatsby Database Explorer.  Then you can change how the database is exposed to users by either changing the database structure or by setting properties with the Design Assistant.

For databases other than Microsoft Access, the various properties that you define are stored in your data sources file.  There are no changes made to your database.  When you make changes to the configuration of the database you will need to save the changes to the data sources file before they will be reflected in Gatsby Database Explorer.

For Microsoft Access databases, the properties are stored in the database itself as properties of the object.  Many of the properties available can be set using either Microsoft Access or the Gatsby Design Assistant.
